Dear Reader,

This is the third Saturday of the month and so I will write about Executive decisions.

1) Central Government Orders 160 million doses of Covishield and Covaxin

The central government on Monday said it has already ordered 160 million doses of Covishield and Covaxin combined, which will be delivered across May, June and July.

This is in addition to the more than 23 million doses that are still to be delivered from its previous orders of the two Covid-19 vaccines.

Leftist Analysis:

With respect to medicine and healthcare leftists believe in new and modern medicines and treatments over traditional ones.

By using vaccines as its main tool to fight the pandemic the government is giving more emphasis to modern medicine than traditional medicine.

This decision favours modern medicine. Therefore it is a leftist order.

Rightist Analysis:

With respect to medicine and healthcare rightists believe in traditional treatments over modern ones.

By using vaccines as its main tool to fight the pandemic the government is giving more emphasis to modern medicine than traditional medicine.

This decision favours modern medicine. Therefore it is not a Rightist decision.

Authoritarian Analysis:

Authoritarians believe that in times of crises the government should increase its powers in order to bring stability to the country.

The government has ordered the vaccines and not allowed private hospitals to directly order them.

This decision shows that in this pandemic, which is a crises, the government is increasing its powers. Therefore this is an Authoritarian decision.

Libertarian Analysis:

Libertarians believe that in times of crises the government should decrease its powers in order to give freedom to the people of the country.

The government has ordered the vaccines and not given private hospitals the freedom to directly order them.

This decision shows that in this pandemic, which is a crises, the government is increasing its powers. Therefore this is not a Libertarian decision.

My Analysis:

I think that this is a good decision from the government. This quantity of vaccines should be enough to increase the supply to hospitals across the country in order to vaccinate those who desire to do so. It is better that the government directly order the vaccines rather than having private hospitals order them themselves which would lead to price cutting, price gouging and unfair market practises which would interfere with the smooth supply of the vaccines.

This is an Authoritarian Leftist decision.
